Public Relations Case Studies
A Wharton Business School-Harvard Graduate School study found that companies that hire consultants to develop investor relations strategies have significant increases in their trading activity, institutional investor ownership, analyst following, and press coverage after hiring the IR firm.2
In their book, Using Investor Relations to Maximize Equity Valuation, Ryan and Jacobs state that stocks move for two reasons:
- performance, both past (actual) and future (expected); and
- the way that performance is communicated and perceived.1
They further assert that 20% to 40% of a company’s valuation is linked directly to its intangibles.1 It is in the intangibles where your investor relations program should outperform. They are the nuances of value, the managing of expectations and perceptions, and the ability to define, deliver, and create a dialogue about the company financial performance and position in its industry.
